Salon Mode: Booking Built for Services
Your customers pick a service, choose a time, and book — with prices and durations already set. A new booking mode built for salons, barbers, clinics, and studios.
Until now, Is Open At was built around one booking model: the customer picks a resource, selects a time range, and books. That works great for tennis courts, meeting rooms, and coworking desks — but not every business works that way.
A barber offers a haircut for 30 minutes and a beard trim for 15. A massage therapist has a 60-minute session and a 90-minute session at different prices. These businesses don't let customers choose how long they stay — the service defines the duration and the price. That's exactly what salon mode is for.
How it works for your customers
The booking flow is simple: your customer sees a list of the services you offer, each with its duration and price. They pick the one they want, choose an available time slot, and book. No guessing about durations or prices — everything is clear from the start.
Define your services
In the admin panel, you create your services with a name, duration, and price. A haircut might be 30 minutes for $25. A color treatment might be 90 minutes for $80. Each service gets its own entry, and you can add as many as you need.
You can also assign specific staff members to each service. If only two of your four stylists do color treatments, only those two will show as available when a customer books that service.
Staff and availability
When a customer selects a service, they see available time slots based on which staff members are free. If multiple staff can do the same service, the customer can pick a specific person or choose "Any available" to book whoever has the earliest opening.
If a time slot has multiple staff available and the customer chose "Any available", a popover appears so they can pick who they'd prefer. No double bookings, no confusion.
Easy to set up
During onboarding, pick service mode, add your staff, create your services, and you're live — customers can start booking right away.
Already running a slot-based setup? Salon mode is a separate booking mode, so your existing configuration is completely unaffected.
Who benefits
- A barber lists a haircut, a beard trim, and a full grooming package — each with its own duration and price. Customers pick what they want and book an open slot.
- A nail salon with three technicians assigns each one to different services. A customer booking gel nails only sees the stylists who actually do gel nails.
- A physiotherapy clinic offers 30-minute and 60-minute sessions. Patients book the right one without calling the front desk to ask which to choose.
